I've fallen in love with the Bahamas. It's the crystal clear water that shines bright blue and the miles of white powder sand beaches, the easy going people and the fantastic fishing. I will one day have my sport fishing boat and be able to take trips to catch the fish of the seas around the family islands and be able to stretch out and bathe myself in the warmth that is so typical of the Bahamas instead of trying to find a slip in Florida on a port without a name.
The lush green vegetation of the southern islands looks as stunning from on the water as it does if you fly over the top of it. The unspoiled areas of endless coastline which are still a home for the native Bahamians as well as having an un-written invitation to anyone who cares to come along. If you decide to take a trip to the islands then be sure that you take a trip to look at the most impressive blue hole anywhere on this planet. Dive into the water and swim with the fish, snorkel across the top of the sparkling water and marvel at the wonderful colours that make up the forna and flora that blend into the depths of the ocean. The ports of entry onto the cays are easily found so, by george you should come and see it for yourself.
Take a long walk on an empty icing sugar sand beach... empty all but for the many colourful crabs that share this wonderful paradise that is a heaven here on earth. Take my advice and treat yourself to a stroll in fantasy land, even if it's only for a short time and you know you have to return back to the "real" world. Your return will be lightened by the dreams that you have about the azure ocean and your night times of rum punch looking over the coral reefs and day times of swimming with brightly coloured fish....

Hi Lyndiloo
Sounds ideal, but I wonder, have you gone any further South? I suggest you try the Turks and Caicos Islands, though I've never been to Long Island it's hard to imagine that the beaches and fishing could be beaten. If you would like to try these islands and need a guide, jusy email me.

Thanks for the advice there Ian I'm always looking to find new places to get out on a boat.
Freediver- that sounds like a great offer. Does it extend to anyone who wants to see the islands, beaches and fishes or was that solely for Lyndyloo? I've spent a little time off the south coast of Florida but always fancied sailing a bit further southwards and the family islands seem to be getting even more popular. Do you know anything about Long Island?
Hi Lyndyloo
I've been diving in the Bahamas for years and can highly reccomend the Turks & Caicos as well. I'd like to see more of the Southern Bahamas though. My friend has been staying in a marina on a boat somewhere not far from Long Island but at one of the other resorts. She says she's had a plane over to the beach at the top end of Long Island and snorkelled with some amazing fish.
Caribbeandiver.
Hi.
Sounds idyllic - pics please...
I think I've fallen in love with the Bahamas by proxy...I've really got the 'I wanna go on holidayyyyyyyerherherheeeeeer's at the moment, so everything sounds idyllic!
I wanna go the the Bahamaaaaaaaaas... I wanna meet George in Port St George!
ah well, back to looking out of the window...at least for the moment...
Sammie- I'll be trying to post some photo's of the beaches and the corals later on but they don't do it justice. Last time I was on vacation there we saw an international yacht festival so we have some great pictures.
Well I'm a big fan of the beach holiday so there's no need to tell me twice. We were in St Lucia last year and had a guide who showed us around for the day. He was so useful, he found us a secluded beach where the offshore breeze was incredible. We went wind surfing for the afternoon there and I've never had conditions like it anywhere else in the world!
